Gilda Clift Breland is a shareholder of the firm, practicing primarily real estate and corporate law. Her practice focuses on commercial leasing transactions, commercial real estate purchase and sale transactions, the representation of private businesses, nonprofit organizations and educational institutions in all aspects of their operations, along with real estate and business litigation matters. Representative transactions from her practice include negotiation of numerous leases of retail, industrial and office space on behalf of commercial landlords and tenants; negotiation of acquisitions of commercial properties, including vacant land, throughout California; handling mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, conversions, formations, dissolutions, and other business transactions; and advising business and nonprofit clients on operational matters, including contract, governance, tax exemption, property tax, and employment law issues, as well as trademark and copyright registration and protection. Ms. Clift Breland’s practice also includes estate planning and trust administration. Ms. Clift Breland is the immediate past president of The John M. Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles, Inc. (2011) and the current treasurer of Region IX of the National Bar Association. She also serves as a member of the Commercial Leasing & Development Subsection Steering Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Real Property Section and the Young Executives Committee of the City Club on Bunker Hill, and recently served as a member of the board of directors of the California Association of Black Lawyers (2011) and the Los Angeles Committee of Honor for the Freedom’s Sisters exhibition (2011-2012). Additionally, she has been a long-time member of the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Inc. (for which she has served as co-chair of its Scholarship Selection Committee), National Bar Association, American Bar Association (Business Law Section), Los Angeles County Bar Association (Business and Corporations Law and Real Property Sections), and Italian American Lawyers Association. Ms. Clift Breland also volunteers at the Mesereau Free Legal Clinic. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California Gould School of Law (J.D., 2003), where she was a participant in the Hale Moot Court Honors Program. She graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles (B.A., Economics/International Area Studies, 1999) with Provost’s Honors and studied business and economics at the University of Bologna in Italy. Ms. Clift Breland speaks fluent Italian. Ms. Clift Breland’s recent honors and recognitions include: Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from U.S. Congresswoman Karen Bass, 2012; Certificate of Special Recognition from U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters, 2012; Outstanding Young Lawyer Award, Real Property Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, 2011; “Divine 9” honoree, Los Angeles Urban League Young Professionals, 2011; Special Recognition Award, Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce, 2011; featured in “L.A.
